Introduction
The second week of my Phase-II teaching practice was filled with meaningful experiences that strengthened my teaching skills and student relationships. I completed the poem Get Together, conducted activity-based sessions, introduced the concept of imagery, and began a new lesson using ICT. The Children’s Day celebration added joy and colour to the week. Each day brought new insights that helped me refine my classroom management, instructional methods, and confidence. Overall, the week contributed positively to my growth as a teacher trainee.
Day 4 – Completing the Lesson (08.11.2025)
I completed the poem Get Together, and the students actively participated in the concluding discussion. They expressed their ideas confidently and understood the poet’s message clearly. A short recap activity helped reinforce the main theme of unity. The session ended smoothly and gave me satisfaction.
Self-Reflection:
I felt proud to complete the lesson effectively, as it marked a milestone in my teaching journey. The students’ responses showed that my explanations were clear and engaging. I noticed that they were comfortable expressing their thoughts, which boosted my confidence. I also felt that my rapport with the class had strengthened. I realized how important it is to pace the lesson properly. The day reinforced my belief in maintaining patience and clarity while teaching.
Reflection on Action:
The experience showed me that connecting literature with real-life situations improves student understanding. The students’ positive response encouraged me to plan follow-up activities to deepen their learning. I understood the importance of giving time for reflection at the end of a lesson. The smooth flow of the session indicated that my planning was effective. Going forward, I aim to include more interactive elements to sustain interest.
Day 5 – Activity Session (10.11.2025)
This day was filled with activity-based learning connected to the poem. Students created slogans, designed group ideas, and presented themes related to unity. Their enthusiasm made the classroom lively. These activities helped them interpret the poem in creative ways and strengthened peer cooperation.
Self-Reflection:
I felt extremely happy watching the students work together so confidently. Their creativity reflected their understanding of the poem. Managing the classroom during group activities helped me develop better leadership skills. I observed that some quieter students also participated actively when given group responsibility. I understood the importance of offering varied learning experiences. The session helped me grow as a facilitator rather than just an instructor.
Reflection on Action:
The activities proved that experiential learning improves retention and enjoyment. I realised that group tasks make students more responsible and supportive of one another. The session showed me how activities can reveal hidden talents among students. I also understood the need to allot time carefully for presentations to avoid rushing. This experience encouraged me to include more student-centred methods in future lessons.
Day 6 – Teaching Imagery (11.11.2025)
I taught the concept of imagery using simple examples and interactive explanations. Students identified sensory details from familiar lines and even created their own examples. The topic was well received and helped them appreciate literary beauty. The session was lively and filled with thoughtful responses.
Self-Reflection:
I felt satisfied with how effectively the students understood the concept. Their eagerness to share examples encouraged me to continue using relatable contexts. I also gained confidence in explaining abstract ideas in a simple manner. The active participation helped me understand their learning levels better. I felt motivated to design more such conceptual classes. The session strengthened my belief in using examples from everyday life to simplify learning.
Reflection on Action:
The day taught me that students learn better when concepts are connected to real experiences. I realised the importance of scaffolding new information gradually. The interaction helped me understand that students enjoy discovering patterns in literature. I also recognized the need to encourage all students to participate equally. This session inspired me to prepare more visual and sensory aids for future lessons.
Day 7 – A Digital Tryst (12.11.2025)
I introduced A Tryst with Destiny using ICT by showing a short video of Nehru’s iconic speech. The visuals helped students grasp the historical context easily. They reacted with curiosity and shared thoughtful observations about freedom and patriotism. The ICT integration made the lesson powerful and engaging.
Self-Reflection:
I felt excited to use technology as it added freshness to the lesson. The students’ wide-eyed interest made the effort worthwhile. Using ICT boosted my confidence in handling digital tools in the classroom. I observed that the visuals helped even the weaker students comprehend the lesson better. I felt proud to present such a historically significant moment meaningfully. The experience strengthened my belief in blending traditional teaching with technology.
Reflection on Action:
This session showed me how technology enhances understanding and emotional connection. I realised that ICT can make abstract or historical content more real for students. It highlighted the importance of using multimedia thoughtfully. I also understood the need for proper preparation when using digital materials. The experience motivated me to incorporate ICT more frequently in my future lessons.
Day 8 – Children’s Day Spirit (13.11.2025)
The day started with a colourful Children’s Day special assembly filled with cultural programmes. The cheerful atmosphere brought excitement to the whole school. After the celebration, I continued teaching A Tryst with Destiny. Despite the festive mood, students remained attentive and connected well with the lesson.
Self-Reflection:
I felt uplifted by the celebration and the joyful energy of the students. Teaching after a programme helped me improve classroom management under different conditions. I felt proud that the students stayed focused even after the event. Their cooperation encouraged me to maintain a positive learning environment. I also realised that celebrating such days strengthens teacher–student bonding. The day ended with a sense of satisfaction and gratitude.
Reflection on Action:
The experience showed me that celebrations can be integrated smoothly with academics. It reminded me to be flexible and adaptable in planning lessons. The continuation of the lesson helped maintain learning flow despite the excitement. I understood the value of creating balance between enjoyment and discipline. This day encouraged me to make learning joyful while keeping it meaningful.
Conclusion
Overall, the week was enriching and productive, allowing me to grow as a teacher while strengthening my classroom practices. From completing one lesson to introducing new concepts like imagery and later transitioning into the ICT-supported lesson A Tryst with Destiny, each day brought fresh learning and opportunities to refine my strategies. The special assembly on Children’s Day added joy and warmth to the week, creating a positive school atmosphere that carried into the classroom.
