Onam 2026 @ FMTC

Onam 2026 @FMTC
The Onam celebration at FMTC Mylapore in 2025 was held with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit during the Sahasrayam Camp, on the fourth day of the camp. The day was truly special and memorable, as it beautifully reflected the rich traditions and festive spirit of Kerala.
The celebrations began with various cultural activities that highlighted the essence of Onam. A Malayalam Manga Competition was organized, in which students actively participated with great interest. I was joyfully a part of this competition, and it added to the excitement and personal significance of the day.
Adding vibrancy to the event, students from the college enacted the traditional roles of Vamanan and Mahabali (Mahabali Thamburan), bringing the legendary Onam story to life. Their performances captured the attention of everyone present and enhanced the festive atmosphere.
One of the major attractions of the celebration was the huge Athappookalam, meticulously designed and created by the students of the college. The colourful floral arrangement stood as a symbol of unity, creativity, and cultural pride, and it became a focal point of the day’s festivities.
The celebration concluded with a traditional Onam Sadhya (feast), which was enjoyed by all the participants. The feast was delicious and served as a perfect ending to the joyous occasion.
Overall, the Onam celebration at SMCM during the Sahasrayam Camp was a delightful experience filled with joy, cultural learning, and togetherness. The event not only strengthened our appreciation for Kerala’s traditions but also created lasting memories for everyone involved.
