School-Based Activity Report
Inspiring Young Minds through Learning Beyond the Classroom
As part of the B.Ed curriculum, the student teachers of Fathima Memorial Training College (FMTC), Mylapore, successfully conducted a school-based activity at G.M.B.H.S.S., Kollam with the aim of promoting academic excellence, creativity, and value-based learning among students. The activity was thoughtfully organized on 3rd  October to commemorate the 92nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India and fondly remembered as the “Missile Man of India.”

Purpose and Objectives of the Activity
The school-based activity was designed with clear educational and developmental objectives. It aimed to contribute to the holistic formation of students’ personalities by nurturing confidence, creativity, and critical thinking. The programme provided a platform for students to discover and showcase their talents, develop essential life skills, and understand the importance of education and values in shaping a responsible generation. Most importantly, the activity sought to inspire students to dream big, embrace learning, and build self-confidence through positive participation and interaction.

Description of the Activity
The event was organized for Class VIII students, centering on the life, achievements, and contributions of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. A quiz competition formed the core of the activity, generating great enthusiasm and active participation among the students. The quiz tested students’ knowledge of Dr. Kalam’s educational journey, scientific accomplishments, literary works, and his tenure as President of India.
Students participated in teams, which encouraged collaboration, teamwork, and healthy competition. The well-structured questions challenged their awareness while also sparking curiosity and interest in learning beyond textbooks. The atmosphere was lively and intellectually stimulating, reflecting the success of the activity.

Student Engagement and Outcomes
The quiz competition brought out the best in students by enhancing their critical thinking skills and encouraging cooperative learning. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and confidence were clearly visible throughout the programme. After an engaging and competitive session, the top-performing teams were awarded prizes, further motivating students and recognizing their efforts.

In conclusion, the school-based activity conducted by the B.Ed students of FMTC at GMBHSS, Kollam was highly successful and meaningful. The quiz competition on Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s life and achievements not only enhanced students’ knowledge but also instilled values such as teamwork, critical thinking, and mutual respect. The activity proved to be an effective tool for building confidence, nurturing creativity, and promoting holistic development. Experiences like these reaffirm the importance of experiential learning and encourage the organization of more such activities to support the overall growth of students.
