Report on World Environment Day Celebration – 2025
On June 5, 2025, the NSS Unit (KL-07-178) of Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, Kollam, enthusiastically observed World Environment Day in alignment with the theme “Save Planet, Ditch Plastic.” The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students and the community.
The celebration commenced with a sapling planting ceremony at Nakshatra Vanam, Children’s Park, Kollam, which was inaugurated by Smt. Honey Benjamin, Honorable Mayor of Kollam Corporation. The event witnessed active participation from students of various institutions, including FMTC NSS volunteers, who collectively worked to spread awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting the planet.
Following the city-level programme, the FMTC NSS volunteers extended the initiative to their own campus by planting a sapling, symbolizing their continued commitment to environmental preservation. The activities of the day highlighted the significance of eco-friendly practices and underscored the vital role of youth in building a sustainable future.
The celebration concluded with a strong message emphasizing the responsibility of every individual to protect, preserve, and cherish nature for the well-being of future generations.
