Report on International Yoga Day Celebration
Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, observed International Yoga Day with a rejuvenating and insightful session organized by the NSS Unit (KL-07-178). The programme was conducted in the Seminar Hall with active participation from students and faculty members.
The session featured an enlightening demonstration by yoga instructor S. Vijayakumari, who guided the participants through a series of yogāsanas, breathing techniques (pranayama), and relaxation exercises. Her clear instructions and demonstrations helped participants understand the practical benefits of yoga for both physical and mental well-being.
Centred around the theme “Find your peace, one breath at a time,” the programme highlighted the role of yoga in enhancing mental clarity, stress reduction, emotional balance, and overall health. The calm and refreshing atmosphere of the session left a positive impact on the participants.
The programme successfully motivated students and faculty to incorporate yoga into their daily routine, reinforcing the importance of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of yoga’s timeless value in promoting holistic well-being.

Reading Day Celebration at Fathima Memorial Training College
Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, observed Reading Day on June 19, 2025, with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. The programme was jointly organized by the Department of Malayalam and the NSS Unit (KL-07-178) with the objective of fostering a strong reading culture and promoting intellectual growth among students.
The celebration was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. M. Omanaseelan, at the Seminar Hall. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the vital role of reading in expanding knowledge, nurturing creativity, and enhancing critical thinking skills, especially among future educators.
The programme featured an engaging inter-departmental reading competition, motivational talks, and a variety of reading-oriented activities that enriched the spirit of the occasion. As part of a meaningful community outreach initiative, students donated books to AKM Higher Secondary School and expressed their commitment to establishing a permanent library at the institution.
The event was efficiently coordinated by the NSS Programme Officer, Smt. Asha Rani P, with the active support of student leaders Annie Panthali John and Bismi. The celebration concluded with reflective sessions emphasizing how reading continues to inspire minds and transform lives.

20th Annual Athletic Meet at FMTC
The 20th Annual Athletic Meet of Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, for the 2024–26 batch was successfully conducted on June 13, 2025, at the YCET College of Engineering and Technology Ground, Pallimukku. The event was organized with great enthusiasm and a spirit of sportsmanship, marking an important milestone in the college’s extracurricular activities.
The meet was formally inaugurated by Adv. Ansar Younus, Treasurer, FMET, who hoisted the athletic flag and delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness and discipline in student life. The welcome address was delivered by the Principal, Dr. M. Omanaseelan, and the program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Amal Lal L, College Union Chairman.
The day’s events commenced with the ceremonial arrival of the Olympic torch, carried by Ms. Annie Panthali John, Sports Secretary, followed by an energetic march past by the three houses—Kaveri, Alakananda, and Mandakini. This was succeeded by the oath-taking ceremony, reaffirming the students’ commitment to fair play and sportsmanship.
Despite intermittent rainy weather, students participated with remarkable enthusiasm in various track and field events. The meet was efficiently organized by Mr. Pramod, Physical Education Teacher, with the dedicated support of faculty members, ensuring the smooth conduct of all competitions.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which Kaveri House was declared the overall champion, followed by Mandakini House as the runner-up and Alakananda House securing the third position. In his concluding remarks, Mr. Pramod, drawing upon his 25 years of experience, inspired students to recognize sports as a vital component of holistic development.
The 20th Annual Athletic Meet concluded on a joyful and memorable note, celebrating unity, teamwork, perseverance, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The celebration was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. M. Omanaseelan, who delivered a motivating address emphasizing the urgent need to protect the environment and reduce plastic usage. He highlighted the role of individuals, especially future educators, in fostering sustainable habits and environmental responsibility.
A variety of engaging activities were organized as part of the celebration, including sapling planting, a campus-wide plastic collection drive, a green spot photography contest, and an eco-fashion show. These activities were thoughtfully designed to encourage sustainable living and enhance environmental awareness.
Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically, making the programme both lively and educational. On June 5, 2025, the NSS Unit (KL-07-178) of Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, Kollam, enthusiastically observed World Environment Day in alignment with the theme “Save Planet, Ditch Plastic.” The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students and the community.

The celebration commenced with a sapling planting ceremony at Nakshatra Vanam, Children’s Park, Kollam, which was inaugurated by Smt. Honey Benjamin, Honorable Mayor of Kollam Corporation. The event witnessed active participation from students of various institutions, including FMTC NSS volunteers, who collectively worked to spread awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting the planet.

Following the city-level programme, the FMTC NSS volunteers extended the initiative to their own campus by planting a sapling, symbolizing their continued commitment to environmental preservation. The activities of the day highlighted the significance of eco-friendly practices and underscored the vital role of youth in building a sustainable future.

The celebration concluded with a strong message emphasizing the responsibility of every individual to protect, preserve, and cherish nature for the well-being of future generations.


EID MILAN 2025

Eid Milan Celebration at FMTC

Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, Kollam, celebrated Eid Milan with great enthusiasm on June 5, 2025, in the Seminar Hall, marking the occasion of Bali Perunnal (Eid-ul-Adha)—one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic tradition. The event commenced with an uplifting Eid message from the Principal, Dr. M. Omanaseelan, who emphasized the importance of compassion, selflessness, and unity that the festival embodies. The program was organized under the guidance of Ms. Anamika B. S., Union Advisor, and efficiently coordinated by student leaders Fitha Nassarudeen, Sumayya S, and Muhammed Al Sayed V.

The celebration featured a vibrant array of student performances, including melodious songs, traditional dances, and heartfelt recitations, all of which beautifully captured the spirit of Eid. The Seminar Hall, adorned with festive decorations, radiated joy and togetherness, creating a warm and cheerful ambiance.
