Mass Blood Donation Drive: A Community Effort by Younus Group of Institutions
On August 14, 2024, the Younus Group of Institutions, which includes Fathima Memorial Training College in Mylapore, Kollam, organized a successful mass blood donation drive at the Younus College of Engineering and Technology. This initiative was held in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Blood Bank in Kollam and the National Service Scheme (NSS), highlighting the importance of community engagement in health-related causes.
As students from Fathima Memorial Training College, we were excited to take part in this vital program. The day began with an informative session led by medical professionals from the IMA Blood Bank, where we learned about the critical need for blood donations and the impact they have on saving lives. The event aimed to address blood shortages in local hospitals and raise awareness about the significance of regular donations.
The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as students, faculty, and local residents gathered to support the cause. We registered as donors, and the NSS volunteers efficiently guided us through the process. The team from the IMA Blood Bank ensured a safe and comfortable experience for all participants. Each donor was provided with educational materials to promote further awareness about blood donation.
The mass blood donation drive was a tremendous success, collecting a substantial amount of blood for those in need. Our participation not only allowed us to contribute to a meaningful cause but also fostered a sense of solidarity among students and the community. Such initiatives are vital in promoting health awareness and saving lives, and we are proud to have been a part of this impactful event. Together, we can make a difference and encourage others to join the noble cause of blood donation.
